The House
When purchased, the shed and stone building mirrored each other with a walkway between. A third of the shed was demolished to make way for the bedrooms with the atrium used to join the new to the old.
As much as possible of the shed has been retained for functionality and as a reminder of the past.
The stone wall entry atrium contains a ‘mud room’ to store walking boots, jackets and dog leads, along with laundry/linen.
The newly fitted out kitchen has a dishwasher, large stove and larder and all facilities required if cooking.
Basic pantry items are available for use – on the basis of replacing items that you have used the last of.
Lounge/Dining
A large space with soaring ceilings, comfy seating and large glass walls giving views of the birdlife who regularly come to visit.
Clerestory windows take in the north winter sun and give a great sense of space to the living area. In winter a roaring Ned Kelly log fire will keep you toasty. Double insulated to minimise heat loss this space also has external blinds to further insulate, provide shade and fire protection in summer.
Bedrooms
The two luxurious queen bedrooms and central bathroom are ingeniously built around the original concrete water tank. Not functioning until the concrete tank is filled with water, in future the thermal mass will keep the temperature within a constant range of 16-21 degrees without additional heating/cooling throughout the year. Overhead fans and electric blankets are located in each bedroom for your comfort.
Bathroom
The luxurious bathroom contains a sunken bath, dual basins, a heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
