Pets
Pets are welcome under the following conditions -
As the property is not fully fenced and although the nearby road is quiet, the neighbours have chickens and there is so much wildlife around that we require that pets are under control at all times.
Please do not allow them to chase the wildlife. We also require that you clean up after your hounds in the immediate area of the garden.
Pets are welcome everywhere but please do not allow them up on the furniture. Please bring your pets bedding so they have something familiar to lie on.
Wildlife
Birds are encouraged to visit by feeding them regularly, there is a large container of birdseed located by the rear sliding door, please use if you want their company. Many other varieties also feed such as rosellas, wood ducks, bronze wing pigeons, galahs, crested doves, currawongs and magpies.
Frequently seen but not feed are kookaburras, superb wrens, welcome swallows, honey-eaters which flit around the bushes and cacti. You may also see soaring wedge tail eagles, there are also various hawks, and at night if lucky you might see a tawny frogmouth or powerful owl.
There are lots of kangaroos, the poo evidence is everywhere. Generally only seen from dusk through to dawn. They are also really prevalent on Basalt Road if you are driving. Take care. We have only seen one koala on the property so far. We have to date not seen one, but in warmer months snakes will be around, walk heavily in the bush, don’t ‘play in the woodpiles’ and supervise kids near the ‘rain ponds’ and dams where there are also frogs and delightful lizards.
A resident echidna sometimes appears and there are many small creatures who only come out at night.
